Lies
Why Liars do What they Do
There are popular opinions as to why anyone conceals the truth. Among the most prominent reasons are the implications of narcissism; narcissism is classified by the psychological community as a mental disorder. As many of us watched the killings in Minnesota, decent people everywhere decried the events and were shocked by the cavalier attitudes emanating from the regime. Could the regime become any more sleazy or evil, for that matter? The short answer is yes. Two versions follow: scientific and religious.
Scientific Explanation
People with narcissistic personality disorder twist the truth in very perverse ways. They project their lies on others and blame them for their own faults. We have seen this time and time again from the regime. They seek to normalize falsehoods and cast the blame on the victims. The perpetrators victimize their victims to an extent that the victims feel further abused. We can see how badly the Epstein victims have been abused in the wake of the flooding of millions of botched files. There has been no real justice. The perpetrators hide behind the innocent as wolves in sheep’s clothing. It is disturbing. Until the wolves are slaughtered, there will be no justice for the innocent.
A Strictly Religious Interpretation!
Catholics believe there is a deep evil in the world that permeates certain sectors of society. If we examine it closely, even the Catholic Church has been a part of it— its own child abuse scandal is a strong case of evil perpetrated by those in power. However I digress, let’s address the regime in the light of the Catholic Church’s teachings on evil.
If we look at cases of diabolical possession, exorcists will tell us that lies and their perpetuation occur as a means for the possessed to escape the truth. Evil seeks to damage our beliefs in the goodness of God and the goodness that people with integrity and compassion can effect upon others. Evil seeks to isolate and divide us. Because of this isolation, despair follows closely behind it.
This is a playbook that resembles what might be called “flooding the zone with obfuscation.” I believe this is what we are witnessing from the regime— it is normalizing the unthinkable. It a way for them to escape the light of justice. And as many of us will testify— the light of truth and justice will set you free.
A Way Out?
Is there a way out of the morass of falsehood. Religiously speaking— performing an exorcism on the regime seems farfetched. For the few who departed the grips of the Republican Party, a new political party will rise from its ashes—and they must address the regime directly. However, the way out is for former Republican leaders to step up and make the necessary sacrifices to speak out against the evil. Politicians who stayed with the regime must be voted out. The guilty parties of the regime must face the consequences of actions.
However, the regime will not fall readily. Voting out the regime must be bipartisan. The growing resentment must become a huge ground swell that can overcome any efforts the regime will take to make honesty and accountability appear false.
In the end, love will prevail and overcome the hatred from this regime. However, as I sit here writing this piece, I wondered how any of my Catholic friends could have gotten caught up in such an evil mess. History will be the undisputed arbiter of complicity and their hopeful redemption, as well.
