Historian Jon Meacham warns us --both liberals and conservatives. Our democracy is not lost but imperiled!
Pulitzer prize winner Jon Meacham tells us to not find comfort in history but inspiration. A slight majority chose to take a very risky chance by choosing Mr. Trump, and Meacham emphasizes the Dems need to take heed. Democracy is not completely lost, but it is up to the people to hold Trump accountable. This is Trump’s Republican party, but we the people can ultimately decide to hold him accountable. Meacham—on the whole— is skeptical of Trump. However, as a historian—he pulls no punches as he states “it is a miracle that our country has lasted as long—.” It is up to us to not despair but to keep our country from falling into complete chaos.
Personally, I will not stand pat if Mr. Trump decides to rob us completely of our rights. People voted with their pocketbooks, and money can make us fickle.
